Transition Trucking Finalist
Meet this year's Epes finalist for the 2022 Transition Trucking: Driving For Excellence Award
The top 12 semi-finalists in the running for the grand prize of a fully loaded Kenworth T680 Next Generation truck were revealed on Thursday, September 1st, by the Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award program. The annual award, which was introduced in 2016 as a component of a larger strategy to support the promotion of careers in the transportation industry to transitioning military Veterans, members of the National Guard, and Reservists, has gained widespread recognition. This year, a record number of fleets and driver training schools submitted nominations.
Christopher McDowell has been a member of our Dedicated team for 6 months and in that time has proven himself to be an invaluable asset. Mr. McDowell embodies all of the desired traits and attitudes that make him an ideal candidate for the 2022 Transition Truck Driving for Excellence Award.
Christopher has always had a positive outlook and places a high value on helping others. In order to meet the demands of the customer and the business, he will adapt his breaks to account for freight needs. Christopher is a pleasure to talk to and always asks, "What can I do to help?" Due to freight numbers or client needs, there have been times when he had to revise his plans at the last minute. In these situations, he has responded positively and with an emphasis on teamwork. I would want to have more drivers who take the time to have chats when discussing planning and time off. Christopher's communication with the office staff is unparalleled.
Christopher has spoken many times about how much he enjoys driving and the camaraderie that is found in trucking. He has brought the mentality of the military with him into this line of work by showing that he truly believes in all for one. The mission/load is the number one priority, and we all must do our part and he absolutely does his. This is his final career and having the freedom that owning a truck would provide him would allow Mr. McDowell unlimited growth potential.
